Is your son autistic?

Why has his current school said your son needs a "special school"?

Perhaps think about some details you could add and then re-post on the Parents forum rather than this Misc. and chat line.

I’m new on here and don’t know what I’m allowed to disclose. My son has been diagnosed with autism, he’s selective non verbal. And he’s 2 years behind. He is struggling to keep up with the work at school as well as being in class. He has a support teacher who has him and another child.  He doesn’t want to move to a special needs school. I’m not sure what to do? Any advice would be great.

I'm not the best person to help with this problem, but I can recommend re-posting this in the Parents and Carers Section because I suspect more parents with kids of your age are likely to see it and be able to help you.

Leave this one here - I'm sure some more folk will spot it and help you....but if not (give it a day or two)....perhaps repost in the following way.

1.  Click on the "Home>" button so you are at the main front page of the community.

2.  Look on the right hand side at the list of "Topics" and click on "Parents and Carers"

3. Select  "Start a discussion" on that page, and re-post.

4. I suggest you put key words in the top section entitled "Description" like "My x age child has been told to move to a special school - what should I do" or something like that.

5. Give as much detail about what you want help with - we auti's like specifics - and give as much detail as you can without giving details to identify any people involved, nor schools, nor names etc.

Be patient, in my experience, people will catch on and come to your aid I'm sure.  We are generally a healthy and helpful bunch I think.  I hope this is potentially helpful to you.
