lets laugh at Nt's

Lets laugh at Nt's, people with Autism are socially blind ? Are they I see more that most Nt people, okay I miss the, they are going kill you bit if you don't shut your mouth. But overall I can (if given time) work out there patterns and behaviours.

So what makes you laugh at nts ? (Not to say that autism people do not have these behaviours).

  • How they follow sporting teams and take the game so serious.
  • Drinking, smoking and illegal drugs, why take poisons ! and even pay for them ?
  • How they think TV is real life, especially soap characters
  • Territorial
  • Can't remember what they said previously
  • Titles and positions, authority, badges,, especially badges
  • Collective believing
  • Materialism
  • They actually believe in society and think it is good overall

  • Hi all - Am locking this thread for several reasons covered already.

    Take care,
    Anil

Scorpion: My disclaimer(Not to say that autism people do not have these behaviours). Have you really got autism Surprised?

I have been diagnosed with Asperger's, yes.

Why would what I posted make you think I'm not on the spectrum?

Actually, don't bother answering that, because the whole point of my post was to point out that you can not simply take things that you wouldn't do and label them as being 'NT behaviours'.

Not everyone on the spectrum is like you, or me, or anyone else.

    We are all individuals.

Oh, and your disclaimer just proves how utterly pointless your post is.

You might as well be 'laughing at NTs' for having two arms, a nose, or anything else we all share, NT or not, because we are all human beings!

I don't think there are any such gross behaviours can be labelled as being exclusively NT, or exclusively ASD.

We are all individuals, with our own personalities, not clones, or robots.

Also, you appear to have completely misread IntenseWorld's post.

Longman: quote "Not being able to remember what they said previously is a blessing. They don't over process the issues involved in social interaction. Its just a process and they forget it quickly. A large part of our daily problem is that the experience of social interaction causes questions and puzzles that continue to go round in our heads, for days, weeks, even years. I cannot see the advantage in that frankly."

Me too and you end up with Post trauma. anxiety and all the other secondary issues. Just because they can lie and forget it and you can not.

quote"The way we process information is a living hell, not something to be idealised.".. tell us about it, my script is wrote in english but it comes out chinese. I've just spend the last three hours studying isothermal charts because I seen a pattern in biomass (~), my mind is full of process information and pattern mapping into model and frameworks.  I enjoy the self-discovery but hate the lack of engagement in the social surround to share, I am intellectual isolated. Frown I think I am a dumbass but my IQ is very extremely high. I am a walking book full of my own scribbles.

Intense: true, I can't understand why Nt's do the things they do. My classic example is going to war, joining an army to fight an enemy, if you put me in an uniform and tell me to kill a person(it is now legal murder ? eh !), anyway if the enemy kills me were is my support gone, I am dead, so how can you support and kill, when the outcome is you can not support because you are dead, were is the soldier in uniform now ? there can not be one, he is dead, so it is illogical to fight and kill in the first place. So in conclusion what I am saying is too support anything is a fallacy because you die and in death it makes no sense to be a supporter. The outcome makes war irrational to me. How can I support the flag, the nation, the ********, if I AM DEAD.

Anyway, thanks for bringing back on line again.

  • I really don't think "laughing at NT's" is a productive thing.  No-one should be laughing at anyone, we should be striving for tolerance and understanding.

As the others have said, quite a few things on your list are things we can be equally as guilty of, if not more so.

I understand your post comes from frustration and bitterness at existing in an NT world and that you are trying to equal the balance, it's just that this isn't the way to do it.

There are many NT behaviours that I don't understand why they do them, I think perhaps helping NTs see how an Aspie mind functions, how logical and intelligent it is would be better than showing how strange an NT one is to us.

  • Besides:

A significant number of people on the autistic spectrum become alcoholics, indeed there is now a process whereby that cause is considered in treating alcoholics. See Tinsley, M & Hendrickx 2008 "Asperger Syndrome and Alcohol - Drinking to Cope" (Jessica Kingsley Pubs) if you don't believe me.

Its the same with drugs, I didn't believe this when I first heard this about two months ago, but its true.

Talking about things incessantly, and being obsessed by things is surely an aspie habit. The fact that NTs obsess about the same things, like sport, and we obsess about widely varied and narrow interests isn't in my view a great distinction.

They think TV is real life? I've met a fair few people who think Data off Star Treck is a real lifestyle model. Asperger logic in no way whatever what is played out by the actor of Mr Data, or any Vulcans, least of all Mr Spock. As to the prevalence of people on the spectrum amongst Trekkies....well nuff said

Not being able to remember what they said previously is a blessing. They don't over process the issues involved in social interaction. Its just a process and they forget it quickly. The society bits - I'm sorry to break it to you but we're the losers in that one.

All very well this "we think differently" are "differently wired" is a sop to cheer as up, not a reality. The way we process information is a living hell, not something to be idealised.

Sorry to be so negative, but some realities need to be faced up to.

  • I'm not sure any of those things are specifically things NTs do and we, on the spectrum, don't.

Drinking, smoking and illegal drugs, are definitely not - I know because I've done all three! (and as for your question attached to this one - because they're enjoyable)

I also believe in society, and that it's good overall.

    I'm quite materialistic.

I often can't remember what I've said previously.

And I'm very territorial - in fact I'd say I'm more territorial than the average person.

I think what you mean is "What do other people do that you don't"
