It's over 40 yrs ago now that i first lrft home and bought myself a small terraced house'  I'd never done anything at home, i think i may have painted the garden shed once. So i had to learn. I went to nightschool every night of the week, not just decorating, but cooking etc etc. I can't remember now,  but at the time i probably bought the cheapest things they had, but all pale colours. And all these years later i still use those same pale colours.

You sound like an uncle of mine. Life-long Batchelor, has lived in his present home for several decades, and the last time I think he decorated was when he moved in.
