Live in own place? do you have it decorated

Do you live in your own home or rented?

But have to have it decorated to your requirements as it makes you feel stressed if it not?

Mine in all pink

what style do you have to have it in for you?

  • I live in a council house. The first thing I did when I moved in was to decorate it, as prior to me moving in it had been re-wired. Things have changed since then (at least with my local authority), as they now redecorate properties before tenants move in. Previously, tenants would get a decorating grant.

In my previous home, I liked to experiment a bit more. I guess it was the novelty of it being my first home and knowing I could decorate however I wished. My current home is mostly painted cream, as more economical to buy several tins of the same shade of paint. To break up the blandness of the cream-coloured walls, I accessorise with different-coloured furnishings and pictures.

  • When did you move Sparkly? If it’s ok to ask. Is a council house still one where you pay a mortgage but they own the ‘shell’? I had something like that here for a while. Now I’m in a co-own arrangement where an agency  owns 40% and I pay rent for that bit, mortgage for the rest. It’s a little less than a standard mortgage and that helps a lot!

  • I moved into my current house in 2001. Memorable because it was the same year my now ex-boyfriend and I were forced to go our separate ways (amicably, as we still keep in touch, so no violin playing or sympathetic sobbing is necessary). I pay rent, which is debited from my bank account each month. As an example, if I wanted to have a shower installed, I would be required to get permission from the council because they own the house.
