GCSE Results - don't worry, I'm not moaning about them!!

Hi everyone,

I got my GCSE results yesterday - I would have posted then but there wasn't time - and was absolutely thrilled to bits to achieve three A* grades (in English Language, English Literature and RE), two A grades (in Drama and History), four C grades (in German, Biology, Physics and Maths) and one D grade (in Chemistry). I'm so relieved and overjoyed - never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd get grades like these! I was just wondering if anyone else on here got GCSE results yesterday, or indeed A Level results last week, and how they were feeling about them if they had. I'm sure you all did excellently.

I'm lucky enough that my school has been brilliantly helpful from day one, and my Head of Key Stage Four was probably the most helpful person we ever encountered there. There was a time earlier on this academic year when I wasn't sure if I would get through it, let alone come out with good results, and I think she might have felt the same - so when I picked them up, she personally followed me out to congratulate my mum and me! She also gave public recognition in the local newspaper not only to the people who got full houses of A*s and As, but to those who had overcome emotional and/or social issues to obtain qualifications to take the next steps in their lives, which was really lovely of her.

So yeah...this post might sound horribly arrogant, but it's been on my mind and I am so happy that it really can be done. It's the best feeling in the world. I can now say that I'm so fortunate to have had such a fantastic two months, what with Miss Saigon (our school production), going to my first party with people my own age since primary school, beginning my cognitive therapy successfully and now my results.

I start the "next chapter" - as everyone calls it - on Tuesday 3rd September, when I start in the Sixth Form, studying English Language and Literature (it's a combined A Level course featuring aspects of both Language and Literature), Philosophy and Ethics, Drama and Creative Writing. I'm really excited, but nervous - it means so much to me that it's all up from here.

Hope you're all well and having a lovely summer.

Much love,
