Do you hear sounds that aren't there ?

I've been reading all the replies to my 'dreams' thread, and something else i thought of was, i may have asked this before, does anyone hear noises that aren't there. A bit like tinitus, like music or someone singing, although it sounds more like whailing. In  the past i've heard the sound  which i thought was horses and soldiers, as if Robin Hood or the Battle of the Roses, and the cobbled streets. This has seemed so real i got up out of bed and looked out of the window. There was nothing there and i went to our local librabry to see did they have any records of what was on the land, perhaps 100s of years ago, before the houses were built. The only records showed fields and farms, no battles.

  • Nothing along those lines. But once in a while, on the threshold between waking and sleeping, I’ll experience the faintest of auditory illusions - like two or three words, maybe just one said close to my ear. I’m kind of aware of its illusory nature do it doesn’t scare me. And usually whatever was said disappears like smoke before I can process it. So I can’t quote one.
