Do you ever dream ?

I'm just sitting here on the couch at home. I must have dozed off and was thinking i'd gone to have a haircut. The barber was cutting someone elses hair, and i was the only one waiting, until an old man came in and sat next next to me. We spoke to each other for a few minutes, just passing the time of day. When the barber finished his customer and was getting paid, he looked over to me and pointed to the barbers chair. I said to the old man 'my turn', i stood up and took two steps across the room before i realised i was in my own lounge, i turned around to look at the old man i'd been talking to, and he wasn't there.

  • I can go for ages without dreaming, or at least being unable to remember the details of any dreams I might have had by the time I have awoken. However, when I am capable of remembering the details, they can cause me to think, "What the heck was that all about?" due to seeming so utterly bizarre and nonsensical.

Yesterday, I had awoken from what I considered to be a bonkers dream. It was WWII, but set in the present day, and Britain was being invaded. At one point in the dream, I was in a rather grand and luxurious house, where a party was taking place in one of the rooms during the daytime. The curtains had been closed so that we wouldn't be seen by the invaders who were gathering outside. However, nobody had stopped to consider that blasting out music probably wasn't the wisest of ideas. Wink

I'm inclined to agree with Simon and say your dream does sound somewhat ghostly. Ghost

  • That’s so freaky. The invaders just outside while you blast, I dunno, Russ Abbott’s Atmosphere from just behind the cunningly closed curtains. No idea why I chose that track! Probably cos the joy division one would be less of a party vibe.

  • My dreams are poverty-stricken compared to your own & others'.

    *weeps*

  • I had war/invasion dream about two years ago. I know why as well. A colleague had told me that the next big global fight for resources will be for water. A sort of new old war had kicked off and The Eastern bloc had invaded a lot of places and in the dream had recently got to the north of Ireland which has a massive inland lough of great strategic value. Anyway, there was a sort of curfew, and water was carefully rationed out in bottles per household by the military. Announce to over public tannoys would announce any fluctuations, intentional power outages etc. one day I was out trying to scavenge some extra supplies and ended up hiding in some sort of abandoned bunker in the middle of an ordinary roundabout as two rival soldiers got into a shooting match at close quarters. There was also a cutaway scene to some urgent evasive manoeuvres on a military sub (the western bloc) that ended in catastrophic failure and a nuclear explosion. I was glad to wake up from that one

  • I have no idea what music was playing, but considering how bizarre my dream was, it might well have been Russ Abbott's 'Atmosphere'. I do remember there being an impressive sound system, complete with a glitter ball, white string lights, and white organza drapes.

Yes, such a very sensible idea to be having a noisy party when supposedly in hiding from enemy invaders. The curtains at the windows weren't even lined either, despite it being a grand house.
