Change of username

Oakling

I have changed from Coffee Guy to Oakling.

I didn’t know if there was an etiquette to follow around changing a username or not, but I thought I’d make a post anyway to let you know. I’d personally like the update as I often get mixed up with who is who.

I didn’t spare much thought to my username when I first arrived. I didn’t know how long I was going to stay here for initially, but also I just wanted to not have an NAS username. 

I like Oakling because of my interest in trees and wood, but it also indicates that compared to an established oak, my stature and life are relatively smaller in comparison. I also like the fact that an Oakling is at the beginning of its journey, just like I’m at the beginning of mine in terms of discovering my autistic identity.

I had a bit of a rough day yesterday, so felt like this morning was the right time to make a change, even a small one like this.

  • I like your new username, it's very you :) I think it's cool to have a username that is to do with your interests and resonates with you.

    It sounds peaceful to me, Oakling, like a really old village surrounded by country fields and a forest. One of those old villages that time doesn't change.

    I've always used my name as my username and never thought of changing it. I'm not very imaginative I guess, don't know what I'd choose as a username other than my name lol.

    I think your name is fabulous, and I’m glad you’re likely to be keeping it. I’m a continuity not change guy myself - so even that celery pic will be there for a long time!- but I admire the imagination of those who freshen things up sometimes too. We need a bit of both - wouldnt it be awful if we were all exactly the same?

    I'm glad you won't be changing anything any time soon. Your pic is so cool. It would take me ages to adjust to a new pic if you changed it lol. 

    But it is nice and refreshing at the same time :)
