Dear everyone !
I am a PhD candidate at King's College London and I am thrilled to be part of your amazing community. I had a feeling that the voices of autistic people in research were not really represented so I decided to ask for help and create my own podcast (as a producer), documenting the lives of autistic people in parallel with the life of researchers in the institute of psychiatry, psychology and neuroscience, talking about their latest research ideas. My aim is first to let people self-document (the podcast won't probably have a presenter but only the person featured on each episode).
As there are too many thoughts on my head and podcasting is my creativity endeavour rather than my professional field, I would like to have your opinion!
- What do you think a suitable name would be? A few different ideas of mine are "The Spectrum Series", "Different Minds, Shared Experiences", "Autism Voices", "The Autistic Journey", "Autism and Beyond"?
- Which parts of your life/story/success would like to include and share? What are you comfortable with?
- What is something you would like to learn from the scientific community, i.e. neuroscientists who do research about autism? Would you have any questions for the scientists? Do you feel left out and how do you think it's better to incorporate your voice into the research?
Let's work together to amplify all voices! This is all for now but I am open to any questions either here or by PM.
Disclaimer: My background is software engineeringand computer science and I am quite new to neuroscience. I am sorry in advance if I used a non-inclusive language or I insulted someone. Please be direct with me and correct anything that you feel isn't suitable. I promise, it's not intentional and I am a compassionate and deeply caring person.
