Autism Tattoo...

Hey Everyone,

So I'm planning my next tattoo and I want it to symbolise autism. I obviously do not want a puzzle piece, which is the only design I can find online. I have drawn the image below and wanted some opinions before I get it drawn onto my skin forever. I'm not sure if I am happy with it yet and wondered if anyone had any ideas on stuff I could change about it. Honesty is appreciated.

  • This looks great Piggy1401. I especially like the way it's shaped like a heart and has a very cute little butterfly.

I am planning on getting a new tattoo as and when I get my autism diagnoses (hopefully by summer 2023), and if I can draw as well as you can by then, I might go for a similar design.

I know the common design is a jigsaw puzzle piece, but I get very stressed out when it comes to puzzles, so probably not the design for me lol.

I like the phrase "different not less" as well.

  • That looks awesome, it's lovely. Nice one :) I love the butterfly, nice little touch xx

  • Excellent drawing work - really nicely drawn.  Good pen stroke width and definition with appropriate balance of detail and clarity.

To be honest (as you have asked) my first reaction was "what is going to be put in the void in the middle." Perhaps make the shape 'tighter' aka bring the sides 'in' so there is less of a void........or perhaps put the text inside the heart shape.

  • I love this!

There is something very satisfying and balanced about the proportions, and I really appreciate the simple style of the writing.

In fact I love it so much I'm tempted to ask you to design one for me.  I'm considering a small rainbow infinity.

Do you know where on your body you'll get it, and how big?

  • I really like your artwork, I think it would look great as a tattoo.

  • I like the idea, artwork looks good. How about "Freedom to be different"? Maybe make your butterfly a little bigger & within vivid colours.

  • I’m not a big fan of tattoos but I think that’s a good design. I’d consider have an artist re do the font at least. The average tattoo artist will copy the letters exactly as you’ve drawn them.

also be clear if you want the leaves and petals coloured. The tattoo artist might assume you just want it in black if you don’t say.

  • That's great, well done! Slight smile

As regards autism symbols: I've often seen something I believe is called an 'infinity loop'; a bit like a number 8 depicted horizontally.
