i have been asked to go on a parent craft class course. i was very upset as i am and have never been the parent in question. basicly my childs father decided to take social services to court, as they wont let him be with his children unsupervised until he has done a parenting course. so he did, they went to court. i never.
since then socila svs told me the judge said me and my partner had to go on one too. i asked them why and they said 'its to help you with your sons ASD' i said i dont need it, we have all the help they can offer, which isnt much. and we had a outstanding report off social svs when they did the report on home etc for the courts. nothing but praise.
i said i cant go as they are on a night. at the moment i cant even go to the shops without my parenmts looking after my son with the asd. let alone a night out.
i told them im upset about this. i was told we would need a babysitter and both to go in the course. its also not in my town so will cost £8 each way once a week. we dont drive.
when i spoke to my social worker she said she doesnt know why either. and thinks its so it helpe my confidence as a mother, and i might 'learn new strategies' the only help i need is for my sons asd, and the classes dont teach this.
has anyone else been on one? did it teach you anything about strategies for a asd child? i told them i cant go, cant pay the taxi and cant get a babysitter. but its not good enough
