Do any males suffer with stressed bladder?

Hi

One of my sons anxiety relates to his bladder, not being able to pass water without anxiety.

We did do to the GP when he was 16 ish, and I'm sure he did all the physical tests and then gave him such instructions about sitting on loo rather than standing, my son started to do that and has continued to now. He is 30 and he still suffers with it.

In the meantime he has gone through 13 years of hell at the hands of the MH system and hospital traumas and drug traumas, as well as missing home for long periods and life.

He still suffers from the stressed bladder.

He has been off the drugs for 4 weeks only and facing all sorts of truama in his mind as well as the mind itself trying to adjust from complications of long term meds.

Has anyone tried Beta Blockers, my son did around his 16th year and said they helped, but didn't continue for some reason, I can't remember why? Appreciate any comments.

  • it maybe a case of incompetant NHS staff?

have they considered he may have some form of blockage like a enlarged prostrate blocking his urinal tube? ... they need to go through everything, but NHS are pretty dumb these days and so give silly amateur advice like trying to sit down when peeing when infact the thing they should be doing is checking if he has blockages of any kind... this is why i dont like GPs or doctors, they are all incompetant these days and dont care. it could be something physical that they can see and find but they likely wont do because they dont care or they dont believe you or they are too busy to care.

  • Hi This was a problem at 16 years old, could it be an enlarged postrate at that age? I think it is very rare. Our GP at the time was a GP who was always someone who was always sending you for tests and quick at referring to specialists. My son was referred by him at 15 for Gynamastia, and he put up with the needle test in his chest and had an examination in his scrotal area. But it may be worth making enquiries again. My son has never complained of pain. Right now though its getting him through these withdrawals of meds and him becoming just a little more settled. He has to go through some dental work and if he gets through that ok, i think it may be worth talking about his bladder again. Thanks for making me think about this again.

  • i mean, it could be possible, anything is possible in the human body.

medics often believed that heart attacks and heart problems were only a old person thing and even now you only get checked for alot of problems when your really old... but yet now we see alot of young kids dropping with heart failure, despite the medical professionals thinking only old people get heart failure... so i think medical professionals are wrong about their ideas of age limitations on things, i think anything can happen to anyone at any age. even if rarer when younger, you have to still account for the fact that the one case you have could be the very rare one off case of the thing in a younger person.

a enlarged prostrate would usually be a cause for urination issues as it would push against the urinary track and seal it off causing a blockage.
