It’s so weird that I never heard this song until Neil Hannon did a cover version. Bit that original is unbeatable. I notice it seems to be Jeremy Vine’s fave song ever. When I was a more regular radio 2 listener there it would be at least once a fortnight on his show. Feels like an ‘alternative 80s’ classic.
Oops! That comment was in response to the Hungarian Dance No.5 Mariusz
Edited to add: Wachet Auf is another one of my favourite pieces of classical music too.
That's one of my favourite pieces of music Mariusz. Impossible to listen to it without wanting to clap along, tap one's feet, etc. I love music that has that effect on me and makes me want to dance.
What a very diplomatic and tactful response Shardovan.
I had a listen and found it enjoyable, until the vocalist started shouting the lyrics. As the saying goes, each to their own.
Gosh, I’d almost forgotten that song - and never saw the video til just now. I love their sound. Enola Gay and Souvenir are the ones I know/ like best. Never did see those breakfast club type films at the time, but yes I can imagine many a crush resulted from those actors
An epic, tongue-in-cheek performance ~

I think I prefer this song to the previous song you linked to.

If memory serves, this is the song that triggered my liking for OMD:
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - If You Leave (Official Music Video) - YouTube
It was the theme for the film Pretty In Pink (a 'chick flick'), which resulted in a hormone-fuelled interest in the actors Andrew McCarthy and James Spader.
