Psychometric tests

Psychometric tests.  I hate them because I have no idea how the test relates to the conclusion.

Yesterday, as part of a job application, I spent two hours doing a battery of online psychrometric tests.  Still don't know if I passed. But I got a very comprehensive report/feedback

At the end I was exhausted and I still don't see the point.

One involved pressing buttons to indicate if a number was odd or even, cloud having round or sharp edges, all timed to see if I was fast enough. 100 times!.  Another timed test also involved measuring speed of a response and gave me the option of choosing when I wanted the test to stop. A patience test?

I hated the whole experience.

  • I did one as an undergraduate to assess what careers I would be most suited to. The top two were teacher and accountant. I am not all that good with children (other than my own) , get very anxious if I have to speak in public, and I dislike anything to do with money and economics, because as topics they bore me rigid. I have my doubts as to their accuracy.
