What is it with all of these cat repellent machines?

Everywhere I seem to go, these machines seem to pop up and completely ruin a nice walk. The ones I have in mind are the ones that emit a high frequency noise when something is in proximity to them. The idea is that people can’t hear them. Well, I can. They are very uncomfortable. They seem to be everywhere all of a sudden. I don’t like the idea of them anyway, but they completely take over when I hear one out and about.

Has anyone else noticed them or is bothered by them?

  • Hi made me think. We have one of those and have moved it around the garden. I notice it when I am near it and it is annoying. We still get the odd cat visiting but I find covering any unplanted soil with twigs etc. mostly avoids anything being left. Now I am thinking maybe getting rid of it would be a good idea.

  • My mother-in-law’s neighbour has them set up in the back garden. They can’t seem to hear it, neither can my mother-in-law thankfully, but spending time over there in summer was quite uncomfortable. After several hours of on and off every 20 seconds, it got a bit much. The neighbours still had cats visiting- though it’s a pretty good deterrent for me!
