Yester day i saw advent calendar in the shop and decorations 4 sale

N then i heard from mum family will b over for Christmas 2

Its all to much. At school there's gonna be secret santa which is v stressing 4 me. Then theres the busier shops n loudness bright lights. Wish i could just skip this season

I like the actual day at home quiet with mum dad n my sisters but the rest of it is way 2 much to cope n deal with

Plus i gotta get presents n i never know what to buy

  • I certainly feel a whole lot better by New Year's day. I vote we bring back a Cromwellian Christmas, a day of fasting and prayer, lol. Doubt there would be many supporters for that, so I shop online and stay clear of the pubs, parties and most especially the shops.

    I would vote for that! As a Christian I find the overcommercialism of it so depressing quite apart from autism triggers.

    I used to mostly enjoy it as a child, and even as a young adult, but for the last 15 years I have just wanted to opt out. I have managed to finally reduce it to almost nothing, helped by covid which we have not re-emerged from. I do not send cards, though my husband does (and annoyingly he didn't even sign them also from me so some people thought we had divorced!) and only really have to get a gift for my sister who does love it. But I still feel stressed and guilty for not participating and sending cards etc.
