School

I just don't know what to do

My child is on the waiting list for an autism assessment and has communication difficulties and issues with food. His functional communication has improved significantly over the last few months.

However, in school he refuses to complete any work (there are 10 children in his classroom with one teacher and 5 classroom assistants.) He runs around the classroom wanting to do his own thing. When the teacher told me this as I was in complete shock as he completes all his work at home with no bother.

I'm scared that if an psychologist assessment in school is completed, he may be diagnosed I'll call it with having a learning difficulty or god knows what as he won't do the work there. I thought it might be noise but when I take him to other activities with other children in different after school clubs he's absolutely fine. I know he doesn't have any issues with learning at all.

Does anyone have ideas why my child runs around?

If he continues like this will he be removed from mainstream and put in a special school?
