I'm back on the dole again.
My minimum wage clerical job, through an agency has come to an end.
Brief history.
I and a group of people were employed in January 2022 on a temporary contract, originally the end date was May 2022. A week later we noticed on our online diary that the contract has been extended to October 2022, without consulting us.
In the preceding nine months several of our original group had left for other jobs as the work has dried up.
My contract date has not been extended, it has just expired. I was hoping for another extension until the final day.
So from 5 October I am back on universal credit and the intense job search routine. I have my first appointment, by telephone, this Saturday 8 October. I hope they believe that the contract came to a natural end that that I wasn't fired because then I would face financial sanctions.
Nine months in one job, by my standards that is a long time.
