Hi!

Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 43 and have recently been put on a waiting list for a full diagnostic assessment for Autism after going through a pre-screening assessment. The catalyst was persistent trouble with communication at work and in my personal relationships, but mostly my child being diagnosed as Autistic in the last few years. Soon after I realised that all of the issues I was facing (and mostly hiding) were exactly the same. Although it's just the start of this journey for me it feels like a massive revelation. So much more makes sense when looked at under a different lens, the poor emotional regulation, the meltdowns that I seemingly can't control, the comments/observations I've received over the years about seemingly "weird" behaviours. Looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me, to talk to people in similar situations and most of all, maybe finding ways that I can adapt and improve my situation for myself and others around me for the better!

  • Welcome. There's loads of info on here and you will come across shared experiences that make stuff make sense. I have recently received my diagnosis at 37 years old so not far behind you in terms of age. Your description of your experiences, above sounds similar to myself as well.

Everyone is happy to help on here, so any questions just shout out.
