Maturing Child Trust Fund

Hi, I wondered if anyone had recent experience of accessing a matured CTF. My son is 18 in October and has ASD and LD. He isn’t capable of making his own financial decisions. The firm holding his trust fund, I have recently read, don’t have the best reputation at being understanding. Any experience or  advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

  • Hi,  I had the same problem with my now 19 year old son, he also has a child trust fund and a separate savings account. We can't access either because he is classed as an adult from age 16 but lacks capacity to access himself. Many others are in the same position, I will be getting a financial 'deputyship' you apply through the 'Court of Protection' online,  a lengthy process unfortunately.  Renaissance Legal were campaigning for easier access - www.renaissancelegal.co.uk/.../
