The fragility of life

A local man in his late forties, with three young daughters, killed himself on Thursday night. I'm just back from the Wake. The littlest daughter is distraught.

I know the fragility of life. If one's mind isn't well, there is no hope. So many promising minds were destroyed, by a society which discards individuals.

The system failed us, but we shouldn't fail ourselves.

  • Very sorry to hear that Desmond, that must be so hard for all of you who knew  him. Despite suicide’s overall rarity, it seems to find a way to touch everyone’s life: a friend, a colleague, a relative. Life is often so hard, and wanting oblivion is sadly all too understandable. Communities like this one can help so much with maintaining the  hope and solidarity that keep us afloat.
