I'm talking about books stacked next to each other so the spine is vertical as opposed to on top of one another. I've realised if I put my books with the front cover upside down and facing left, the spine is easier to read. Ie the text reads from bottom to top rather than top to bottom. I find this much easier to read.
I wonder if it depends on what your first language is since some people read right to left, some read left to right. I wonder if it depends if you're right or left handed?
I have read spines can be printed ascending or descending with one you have to *** your head left, the other, right.
That's interesting - I'd never really thought about it until I read this. All my books are stacked so the title reads top to bottom; I used to work in a bookshop as well as spending lots of time in libraries and I expect that is why it feels more natural for me that way as it seems to be the 'traditional' method. I'm left handed so not sure that makes a difference.
For me it's more important all the books are stacked in the SAME way - if one is put back wrong it really messes with my head and can make me feel agitated. Also all the books have to be 'level' on the shelf if some are pushed in further than others it annoys my brain.
I hadn't thought about it either till I turned some round yesterday to see for myself!
I don't think it matters which way since we tilt our head one way or the other. I too like books stacked in the same way, I think most people would otherwise it looks messy!
