Need help with changing to Social Services Disability Team

Hi,

Sorry, if this seems blunt its due to trying to keep this short!

I have a 15 yr old son with ASD, ADHD, Attachment disorder and serious behavoral issues!  We have been asking social services for help for years, but we are only entitled to the child protection team due to my son having no learning difficulties.  The social workers do not know what they are doing, they offered respite which we were so so grateful for, but they have discharged him as they cannot cope with his behaviour.  My son is drinking, taking drugs, truenting etc.  My husband and I separated 2 months ago as the other 2 children were going to be put on the child protection register with my son in the house.  There are no issues with parenting, but he is a danger to them with the aggression and drugs etc.  My husband is not coping and I cannot take him back without putting my 2 yr old in care.  I am at my wits end and dont know what to do.  My son refuses all help and is so vile to us.  I love him so much but he seems incapable of love.  My husband is not his biological father so he is struggling and under no obligation, except to protect the other two.

Social serives cannot offer any more help, and we cannot get access to specialist help as this is only available through the disabled childrens team.

Has anyone ever managed to get into the disabled team or have any advice?  I dont know whether hiring a solicitor would help, but we need specialist services before its too late, especially for when he is an adult!

I am so torn.  My heart says to protect him and love him no matter what, but so many people say that he hates me and always will so dont try to help.  I cant, he's my son :-(

  • Thank you, he is under cahms and been assessed in one appt lately.  The Dr said that he is not psychotic but has some very worrying behaviours, this was when he was hearing voices a few months ago.  Since then he has become more secretive and wont say if he is still hearing voices.  I dont know if its a mix between asd and drugs or something else.  We are currently having family therapy but its a month inbetween apps and we have only had one so far.  They are going to look into it, but my son keeps saying lately that he wont go anymore, and as everything, its all up to him.  He refuses all help and intervention.
