What's The First Thing You See?

This is an optical illusion, what's the first thing you see?

I see two faces looking at each other when I first looked.

Can read about it and watch a video here...

  • I saw the left-hand face first, then the right-hand face and lastly the glass. Now I know that they are there, I can flip between faces and glass with ease. I can draw portraits with a fair degree of accuracy and I think that I am wired to notice faces preferentially.

  • I asked my son (NT) what he saw, and he said he could see both at the same time. He then went on to say that as he had done an art course, it gave him a bit of an advantage. Sort of similar to what you had said about seeing silhouettes in art.

  • I see both the faces and the goblet but I see the faces first. I think it's because I'm more used to seeing silhouettes used in art so I assume that's what I'm meant to be looking for.

  • I saw faces first and then looked again and can sort of see a wine glass.

  • At first I saw two faces, but after looking at the image for a while I then saw a wine glass/goblet.
