ELSA therapy

Is anyones child having ELSA therapy in school. My son started for emotional support. But I’m just wondering if this is best for him.

  • I am an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) at a primary school and I support children with anxiety and try to build self-esteem. I also help with friendships and social skills. However, I have found the most important part of the role is to become a trusted adult who is available to listen to them. It is a safe place for the children to talk about what they are worrying about and to be provided with strategies to help them. We play games too and they seem to enjoy that. Some weeks all they need is to relax and play a game. I hope that your son finds it helpful. I am sure that his ELSA would be happy to share what they will be doing during the sessions.
