Are we the larval form of Artificial intelligence?

I've been aware of artificial intelligence for a while and what we are using it for.

It seems that we are so disgusted with our human frailty and weaknesses that we are hell bent on replacing our version of thinking with machine thinking.

We already don't trust human beings to drive a car or land an aeroplane (for two examples) and are spending an enormous amount of effort replacing ourselves in those activities, and MANY OTHERS across the board.

As soon as they stopped fitting toggle type ON/OFF switches to machines, we were on the slippery slope..

Yes, it's not autism related really, but I'm interested to se what people have to say.

  • I think one of the next big things will be augmentation as per the game Deus Ex Machina.  First physical augmentation where people will choose to have a prosthetic arm instead of their real one, then the next step is neural augmentation which I think Elon musk amongst other is toying with.  Then you could have an AI running alongside a person which is terrifying and a very real prospect.
