Is excitement similar to anxiety? I know that excitement is generally seen as negative and anxiety is seen as negative but there is some kind of overlap in the physical symptoms. I just wondered what other people on here thought?

Thats interesting how they sound so similar. I wonder what the origins of the word is? To take it further I wonder how other cultures 'label' things like 'excitement' and 'excitation'.
Hi - excitement is often described as a positive + enthusiastic feeling. Excitation, which is similar, is described as agitation, being flustered etc. So excitation is allied to excitement but a bit different. I wouldn't describe being excited as being negative, generally speaking, but can understand how the word is used in that way, especially "over-excited" which can also have physical symptoms, as can excitation.
