Thought I'd start this thread as a couple of people have asked about uploading avatars that they use on other websites.
As part of developing the Community we'll be looking at user uploads of avatars and seeing how it would work with our current system.
Until that can be developed I wanted to see if we could find a solution that migth help.
I am able to add new images to use as avatars - but they would have to be used by everyone. So if you have an image you wouldn't mind being available to everyone that you'd like to use you can either post a link to it here or email it over to:
Please bear in mind that it'd need to be a public domain image or you'd have to permission to use it. We do have some limits on the avatar drop down, so we can't promise we'd be able to use everything, but there's probably room for a few more with the current design.
And I just wanted to say thanks to those people who've donated the images we're currently using for avatars -
Deathgob was an alternative badge and t-shirt company who donated the illustrations currently used as avatars. Sadly they've ceased trading now but here's you can read their final blog entry here -
