Bank Account

Hello all

I was wondering if I could have some advice about the above ?. I need to open a bank account for my 15 year old son, who is currently located at a specialist school/residential home. His school has requested I open an account for him to cover various purchases etc. I was wondering if anyone could recommend suitable  Banks/types of account ?. Regarding ID to open an account, I've also been advised birth certificate and letter confirming his diagnosis would be suffice?

Thanks in advance

  • Thank you for all the responses, appreciated.

  • maybe avoid royal bank of scotland though, i mean ive been with them my entire life since childhood, but their branches are not open on the weekends so it makes it impossible to get into a branch if your working lol making royal bank of scotland essentially a bank for people who never intend to work. plus they are a bit sketchy, on the borderline of going bust most of the time and having to be bailed out, multiple times they was being taken over then flipped out of it, if any bank goes bust and loses all your money in the future you can bet it will be rbs. and people dont think it can happen but it can.... my motorbike insurance company has just gone bust and lost my money and my insurance will be cancelled soon because mce went broke. banks can go broke too and lose all your money, and rbs will absolutely be the first bank to go bust.

  • any bank, any id, basic/current account with debit card (whatever they call it, not credit card, not loan card that is based on lending what you dont have) with no fees and no overdrafts. you can open bank accounts online in a few seconds these days too and have the card mailed to you. any disabilities or illnesses dont matter and they dont care about because its just a bank providing a service and the service is the same no matter who you are or what you have.

  • Would it not be best to stick with your own bank?

natwest for my child was done online and photographed I.D was acceptable uploaded or sent email.
