Does unemployment cause Aspergers

Everyone in society has some Autism traits but differ in the degrees of how it effects there lives. Take for example an accountant, a scientist or an engineer probably enters the spectrum but because they are working with there high specialist autism strengths it goes uncatalogued, but once they are made unemployed.., Autism(aspergers) is recorded by society as there functional environment changes.

My title "Does unemployment cause Aspergers" is a joke, but if unrecorded until made unemployed maybe it does because it is a key to diagnosis of aspergers. So I am looking at the autism equation the other way about,, what was the key to diagnosis ?Change of work environment(unemployed), signs of not coping, not speaking etc.  What was the first autistic sign or key turning point ?

  • Hope your story is ditto for me too. I think my anxiety maybe based around high intellect which is a form of extreme thinking(new idea's, theories, etc), but when this extreme thinking jumps into social and physical health ambiguity it is deliberating for me.

Imagine like say 200 hundreds ago you said woman should have the vote or equal rights they would say your were an extremist(extreme thinking), although today they would say you were a enlightned person back then.

So, I believe extreme thinking has you on the edge of thinking but also "ON EDGE" with anxiety. There is a trade off for high thinking. I am now trying to separate both, the social extreme and intellectual extreme minds. So, when I have a body pain.., saying it is the extreme mind talking or social reservations or forecast problems, I say it is the extreme mind just at work and try to greet it so with a laugh and made it separate(stand away for it, ignore it).

PS I love history. Smile the human cycle.

  • I got diagnosed after severe OCD and general anxiety prevented me from travelling more than a half mile radius from my home, rendering me almost completely housebound. I had never  been in employment when I got diagnosed, but I had obtained a history degree at Chichester university.

I disagree that everyone has a bit of autism in them. I would like to meet these people - Aspergers, an apparently 'mild' form of autism (it is anything but for those with the real article) can be a right hindrance and obstacle in one's life. For me, it causes severe  chronic  anxiety, physical symptoms (like uncomfortable aches and palpitations - a source of anxiety themselves, but the doctor has told me I am physically healthy), and the usual social issues.
