Hi,
I start work as a library assistant on Saturday and I am so nervous! I don't know what to expect and I like to plan my days and obviously, I cannot do that because I don't know what they will want me to do. I am going to have to talk to people for 7 hours!
basically, I want to know what to expect... what usually happens on the first day of a job?
Alisha xx
so how are you now in your new job
Hi Aidie,
thanks for asking, yeah it was good. I enjoyed myself, I got to put books in numerical and alphabetical order, it was great! (not sarcasm, I really enjoyed it). I went home for my lunch break so I didn't have to socialize with anyone which was good.
thats really good to hear !
I feel like more and more my childhood memories emerge as well. I find it fascinating. But my thinking usually goes multiple lines at the same time. I forget to restrain output to just one
Never mind, that's life.
Oh my god!!!! yes!!! I had to do that! I feel so happy that I'm not the only one
I'm glad that your first day went well and it was enjoyable. I remembered that I had to sing the alphabet song so many times in my head in order to shelve the books, but the library was a nice job to work at.
don't be frustrated, it's me probably, I most of the time add something to the last post
I think it takes our brains a long time to process things. So many things happened to me a long time ago that I'm only just coming out of. It's frustrating.
I've completely lost track of what you're talking about, sorry.
like english say
better late than never
there is similar in Poland, and I think it is one of those universal present in every language
I was a Civil Servant, and the Canteen was too convenient. Being fired, after six months, threw me into a tailspin. I'm only starting to come out of it. After seventeen years.
I am not very good at comforting others, so I try just being there instead, or diverting attention from the unpleasant
Yes, but it's generally not a good idea to eat food in a toilet. It is a shame that Billy didn't have anywhere else to go apart from the toilet to escape his colleagues for a bit of peace and quiet.
I think you're missing the point of his comment somewhat.
we need those germs to live
Yes, humans are full of germs.
not all toilets are dirty, but all public are unfortunately
Unhealthy physically but healthy mentally eh?
I understand that. I had a job once where I used to eat my lunch in the toilet rather than see people
Good thinking. It's the only way. I can't keep up with all the social manoeuvring and one-upmanship that happens at break times.
I was doing that at my previous work, if there was more than 1 colleague in cantene when I went for a break I would go and eat in a locker room, otherwise I wouldn't get a moment of silence even
Yes it's good to get out of there for your lunch break. I found lunches most difficult because all the women would be bitchy towards me and I was expected to understand all the subtle nuances they were on about. They got so offended by me, I've no idea why, so I started to hide away to eat my lunch.
