Lonely Soul

My little brother (12) used to be an outgoing, upbeat person, always out wanting to be active and would talk to anybody.

Literally, as soon as he started school in the later primary school years, he went into a bubble - nothing could get through to him, all he wanted to do was sit in his room on his PC, Laptop, Ps3 & not communicate with anything.

He has no eye contact, walks low, self confidence is down to zero! but is REALLY clever. He avoids anything where he might have to talk with people - comes across as painfully shy & ignorant! ....He is oblivious to the world around him

Untill now, we thought he was just being tempermental, a typical young lad you know!.. It was his High School that have noticed maybe Asperger condition in him as of they're previous experience with other pupils. The High School have mentioned about visiting a GP and getting him assessed but to avail as yet.

Do we just take him to the docters with this?

  • Maybe you should, might be coincidence but sounds like how my m8s used to describe me at the age. If he has been bullied it may have caused more severe social anxiety, I have also been told that the conditions linked to Aspergers Syndrome can change over time based on age.

For example, I have become OCD at memorising educational materials ( a text book a day) and not long before this I got sharp pains in the left of my head like static shock. I was told this was likely to be some kind of trigger.

Maybe look into the symptoms more and talk to the school counsillor about him.
