Welcome to the Sticks

I was heading out to run an errand while driving, then I encountered first runners; then a peleton of cyclists. And there was a tractor, with a cattle trailer, in front of me who was almost going to cause an accident with cars heading the opposite direction; to this evening's All-Ireland Final in Dublin.

I believe that, at times, I deserve the George Cross just for getting by one day; so, I do.

  • That sounds like quite the ordeal. If this was a movie, I'd imagine you driving screaming "I've got an errand to run! Get out of my way!" And you're swirving left and right, and all you see are airborn runners and broken bicycle parts and flying cows everywhere, but you don't have time to figure out what all those bumping noises were, or why everyone and everything's in the air, but you just know you have an errand to run, and you're going to run that errand! You're going to make it!

And then when you finish the errand go back home, you turn on the news, and hear a story of a traffic accident that happened on the road you were at, and you were glad that you just missed that accident. Thank the heavens you got your errand done before that accident happened. You sigh in relief, as you look for your next errand ...
