LIFE IS SO HARD!

Hi everyone,

I had my first full day at sixth form today and honestly It was sh*t. The lessons were ok, however, I had 2 free periods and a break and lunch which I was expected to be surrounded by people and talk to them about general stuff and honestly, I wanted to run to the nearest classroom and hide under a desk. I’m not saying that I want to die but life is just so hard and i would rather not have to live. Do you think it’s easier for people who aren’t autistic? How do I politely tell my friend that I just want to be alone?

  • I remember crying my eyes out on my first day of Sixth Form! But please let me assure you, I ended up loving it, and I loved uni even more. Which subjects are you studying? Something I did was use my frees, breaks and lunches to work in a quiet space...it meant I didn't have to endure the noisy, cliquey common room when I didn't want to and, not to boast, but I ended up with better grades than a lot of people so that was a perk of that plan! Change is always difficult, school is always difficult, but from your writing I can tell you're bright and you're going to be OK. Just remember why you're there - to learn and get qualifications - and the rest will follow.

  • yep, I cried most days last week. I'm not even sure if I want to go to uni, it's the socializing part that's just so difficult. I am doing Maths, Sociology, and Psychology A level.

the common room is literally horrible, there are so many people. yeah, I have been going and doing my work in empty classrooms pretty much all week and this week has been a lot better so I think doing that has helped. I also told my friend that I was finding it hard spending so much time with her (i think that upset her) and now we aren't together all the time which is good (in my opinion)
