What is it with the forum and the NAS bashing ~ URSPECIAL

Couldn't have put it better myself autismtwo, we go to NAS for help full of hope that we can get help but all we get is fobbed off... I was told to go to them by the NHS, I asked NAS for help and all I got was a load of pdf files sent by email pointing me to other places.

This shows they have absolutely no concern about me at all, and nobody even followed up.

I thought my diagnosis (after decades of wrong diagnosis of depression and even mental illness), might open up some doors so I can get help, but nothing and for those moaning about people complaining then you obviously don't need help because if you did and you went to NAS for help you wouldn't get any. What is making people shout is the fact that NAS is getting 92 million per year on the back of helping those with autism - but when you have autism and go to NAS for help you don't get any, but at the same time they are free to squander a huge proportion of that money of nice offices, salaries to well over 20 executives, meetings, award ceremonies, speeches and lectures - I have ASD, none of this helps me at all, so in my opinion its a waste of money.

Like I said in my last thread 92 million is enough to build 50 huge centres across the UK and staff them all with 10 full time staff, pay for decoration, repairs, furniture and equipment and give them £4000 a week running costs. 95% of those with ASD will be about an hour away from a centre, where they can go for help, advise, courses, day centre etc...

Simple answer, people with autism come onto this forum with serious life problems, benefits, housing, medical assessments, lack of care and FALL STRAIGHT THROUGH THE NET, which the NAS is pretending it catches vulnerable autistic people in !

It is the hypocrisy of the NAS and what it stand for and what it really does in reality, it is like a PR machine without a soul.  

If the NAS can not supply a Specialist Crisis Net for people Autistic people, who can, as the mainstream is failing ?

The NAS would be better not to exist then and least that way there is no FALSE HOPE generated by pretending it does a good job. All the NAS is a government agency no better than ATOS.

As I wasn't aware of the direct issues you + others have with NAS, this is why I commented.

Is all the info regarding NAS's fiances, the Gov work programme from the NAS Accounts to the Charity Commission

I actually felt angry after speaking to the help-line worker. What did she mean that NAS does not deal with housing issues? My Aspergers means I need peace and quiet, at the end of the day at least. She hardly wanted to know, and  left me to fight on my own. Typical really.

Of course my plight is real and verifiable, in fact my key worker is pulling out hair in disbelief at how hopeless getting any resolution is and has offered to see mp.

What you see is the true colours of what the National Autistic Society are really like after getting onto bed with  the government they are deadly quiet as reliant on majority of funding from government. 

The problem with large charities is they are more keen maintaining or gaining political position-than core reason for existing.

The facade is a caring all incompassing professional service, only when a serious incident occurs will we see any reaction. Then it is a quick reinvent of service as seen with incident reported in papers.

You have to ask also where the 1.5 million went on a helpline that Hope called?

If I come through this with my home intact and any way of limited funding a free support run by and supporting adult autism I'd do it.

If I have a website on server running wordpress my friend and I set up, problem is NAS will and have jumped on my posting of it on here.

I only post on here to highlight the NAS do not provide any tangible support to diagnosed adults that are care in the community.

Stuffed, remember the golden rule of Autism, people who do not have autism know better than the people with autism.

Your idea of an actual real support crisis centre for autistic people would cut down on stress, anxiety and save time and taxpayers money for the establishments. I swear, I believe the elitists actually wish a disharmony field in the country, always have, with there demonic wars and social psychopathic brutus and mind control systems.

Of course the logical situation is removing the pathetic waste of time fob off advice line you can never get through to and having a citizens advice for autistic people and carers to access.

Removing the tame sock puppets and NT  self proclaimed experts and actually employing people able on the spectrum to assist others.

I used to be crippled with uncertainty and self doubt- it is possible to overcome both.

The problem is we don't want to sit on our backsides and rot- there are more than a few ways we can be successful in our own way.

Frankly expecting a job centre person or similar to have the IQ and understanding to cater for us is a waste of time.

I have discussions with professors, but have learnt to dumb it down in general conversations as the average member of the public isn't capable of highly intellectual conversations- getting drunk,facebook are the popular things and trashy soap operas they can relate their crumby little lives to.

But where is the profit in actually running an advice line that encompasses all when currently NAS can fast track fob us off to Citizens Advice with no follow up or aftercare to see help was recieved.

Until a major short coming happens where someone commits suicide or similar-nothing will change and even then the best will be "lessons have been learnt".

I have complained to charities commission and they are toothless- but people are being tricked as

• £5 a month helps pay for a befriender to meet regularly with someone with autism.
• £10 a month helps another family get help and advice from our Education Rights Service.
• £20 a month helps us to give practical support to someone with autism who is looking for work.

We Need Not Apply and why when NAS could recieve funds from government for back to work program do they need private donations!

So lets get logical and rational on this... solution thinking and all that stuff.

Basically the NAS needs to have Crisis/advocate service, that last place or even the first place to call and get real assistance, but the NAS must provide a law department which swings the Autism Act to counterweight the Authorities involved, ATOS, DWP, SOCIAL WORK, JUSTICE SYSTEM, NHS, COUNCILS, HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS,...

Unfortunately,  the NAS has a nice cosy funding hush relationship with the government and all there institutions,, there lies the problem, interlinked corruption and do not wish to make any waves upon social policies. THAT TO ME IS CRIMINAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UNETHICAL!!!!!!! IMMORAL!!!!!!!!!!!!  but what do you expect from an organisation which is run from the root of the same established establishment.

The NAS is therefore just another head of the same snake, it is not delphi,  it is a dark cobra !

Exactly and as I have previously pointed out if a professor can't get change- what hope have we got.

My plight is not self inflicted and I wasn't looking for some dodgy money scam or similar.

As several have pointed out our experience as adults in the comunity has been the NAS offer no meaningful support.

What happens to those who can't stand up for themselves and are not residential chargable clients- who speaks to them, who champions their cause?Where is the compassion and humanity?

How would someone who hasn't grown aware of the realities of the world and is still trapped in dependance and fear cope. In my mind as you say taking money on the back of autism and aspergers is complicit with the likes of ATOS.

It strikes me as the NAS would happily see us in the gutter along with anyone else without a monatary value.

The NAS have my email and every chance to extend communication, yet they would sooner let us voice the truth on the forum and say nothing- than engauge us.
