DOUBLE DIP CORRUPTION ~ NAS

Looking for clarification, under Government funding a steps information pack must be issued when a child is believed to have ASD ?

 quote "The Government funded the National Autistic Society in 2006 to develop a complementary information resource, Next Steps, which was distributed through educational settings when a child is believed to haveASD. The pack aims to:

  1. increase understanding, knowledge and awareness of autism spectrum disorder (ASD);
  2. ensure that parents, families and individuals with anASDcan access relevant information and services;
  3. provide information, advice and support to individuals with anASDand their carers;
  4. help individuals with anASDreceive the support they need to fulfil their potential;
  5. provide information on local services that may be available to people with anASD;
  6. improve general awareness of autism and provide advice to health, education and care professionals working in the field."

Families can book two places on a one-day help! First Steps seminar for £30 (inclusive of VAT), which includes a full resource pack of useful information, advice and support guidelines.

The help! First Steps seminar is delivered by experienced and trained professionals of The National Autistic Society.

So the questions to the NAS are three fold ;

1.) Why are they charging £30 for an information which the government has already funded and holding a seminar ? This looks like a double dip corrupt system !

2.) Is the first steps information available free to anyone ?

3.) Are the NAS meeting the criteria of the 6 points of the government funding outline ?

Personal opinion, they can not be, looking at the number of posts of non-clarity confusion, because that governments criteria of 6, would be met easily in most cases instead of all the confusion I read about in the NAS forum and by my own conditional need experience. That is half the battle, people with autism do not have a true place to guide them, the NAS is doing a 20% job, but getting a 90% funding. THE NAS ARE NOT WORTH THE GOVERNMENT FUNDING, they can't even cover the 6 areas generally, maybe in just in LONDON, but not anywhere else in the country.

Could the NAS please respond, thank you.

  • http://blacktrianglecampaign.org/category/future-events-protests/

    it is good to see that some disabled people are standing up for ethic and moral rights, but it takes some to die first.

    Now even the state church is speaking out, because it knows the survival of the fittest conservative party is evil

  • Although soon to be possibly homeless, without funds -how would you raise funds for the simple honest idea of supporting people with verified diagnosed autism.

    I would be quite happy to look into this

  • Autismtwo, I've been saying the same thing for months. check out my new thread about how the 90 million could be spent.

    I think the only way people with ASD can get any help is by grouping together and becoming a force and they getting control of all this funding and spending it properly.

  • Easy ~  the taxpayer(me and you) has already paid for the NEXT Steps information, to then re-sell it even for £30 x number of people,, that is the corruption. It is the principle of the matter.

    Stuffed ~ just another example of how the NAS is not meeting the criteria of the 6 terms of government funding.

    Stranger ~ £90 millions covers quite a lot, it can afford golden salaries for the management, self backpatting awards ceremonies etc. It is just a gravy train and with gravy train operators they just wish more and more without giving value for money or operating an financially efficient organisation, save pennies on the budget for pencils but spend thousands on lunch seminars and champagne, the London corrupt circle. But like everything else in this country, you can complaint and shout all you wish, it changes nothing because the country is run by an elitest circle of snakes in London WHO ARE ALL INTERLINKED.

  • I'm diagnosed with aspergers, ill requiring hospital visits that consultant and gp can confirm.

    ATOS and DWP have conspired to lock and bar any meaningful resolution to the fact my WCA was cancelled as ATOS deamed I did not need to attend of which I have a letter as proof.

    For months tried to get National Autistic Society's support- the only way to get change is publically highlight that support is not being offered.

    Maybe those of us who can speak calmly in public should consider possibility of attending conferences and highlighting issues and disrupting revenue streams.

    While I have had all my benefits stopped, I'd consider hitchhiking and couch surfing as a method of visiting locations

  • Easy said:

    £30 for a day for 2 people doesnt seem like a lot to me,

    My guess is they dont want to have free bookings because then people would book and not turn up, and places would be wasted.

    and there are also costs involved that the Government may not have covered. (refreshments, hiring a room, travel of the people doing the semianr, etc)

  • The NAS may as well be a government department the amount of government funding they recieve.

    If you check out my current thread your find that unless a small section of autistic people that can generate income- NAS do not want to know.

    Mark Lever is aware and so is Professor Simon Baron Cohen.
