Thinking about some of the Autism parents I've met

Since being diagnosed I've looked back at interactions I've had with some Autism parents and seen them in a new light. One particularly galling thing is that they seem to have to drag the fact that their child is Autistic into every conversation, even if it's got nothing to do with what they're talking about. 'My daughter, who is Autistic, loves chocolate.' 'It was my Autistic son's birthday yesterday'. This is probably going to sound controversial, but it almost feels like they want to get it into every conversation so other parents will tell them how brave they are and what a wonderful job they're doing.
