Why do I mishear?

I have this problem, that at times I mishear what people are saying or singing, this happens in real life, on TV and radio.

Today I was shopping and the piped music I was hearing was,   Annie Lennox singing, 'walking on Zombie land'.  When I got home I looked it up on the net, and she was actually singing about walking on broken glass.

  • singers tend to warp their words to make it sound better musically and force it to fit.

    as for people, people mumble when they talk and dont speak clearly enough. would probably be handy if they ditched some pointless lessons in high schools and replaced them with elocution lessons perhaps, to make everyone less mumbly. would help them in life more than gender studies or religious education anyway lol
