Just wondering if there are any other parents of ASD children in Scotland? I see a lot of advice about senco and statementing for school etc, but procedures are different up here and it would be nice to chat to people going through the system here?

Hi,
yes i am based in Northern Scotland my son aged six has not yet gone through an assesment though. He is six with Aspergers. His school first made me aware of the condition and what they suspected last year when he joined P1. Until then i was blissfully unaware. Now we realise my husband suffers also. My sons primary school have said no need, in there opinion to have him assesed until he is due to commence high school as he is coping in school seems happy at present and his anxiety is under control. On the outside he looks like any other little boy and does join in in some play at break times. My husband and i are still uncertain if and when when get him officially diagnosed so i am not sure if i will be much help.
Scotland is a big place, i know there is a autism group in Inverness.
