General Information Following Receiving Diagnosis Report.

Hi All,

Just wondered, what happens once you receive the diagnosis report?

I notice on here a lot of mention of a follow up appointment?

The report has only stated areas I may benifit from at some point. There is no mention of any follow up appointment?

Is this something I need to look for myself or is it something that will automatically happen as part of a process?

I have been looking in to contacts for groups and zoom meetings with local trusts etc. I have made a zoom appointment to discuss about trying to meet people in a similar situation etc.

But I have not had any mention of any Formal follow up or anything, either by my GP or assessment Dr. or anyone? So Im just in a blank at the moment!

Thanks in advance.

  • Just a matter of months,

I think I mentioned it to my first GP, during a telephone appointment about a different medical situation. During that conversation, I was not comfortable about his manner overall in how he was speaking to me. So he in turn referred it to a mental theropy nurse. When she contacted me, I stated why I asked for a ASD referral, she then said, she was the wrong person, I needed the GP, to do that??

I was so uncomfortable about everything, I asked for a record of the conversation with The GP, which I eventually, had to go to the practice to hear! Any way, I asked to change my GP, which they did... Then on a visit to that new GP for a medical issue, I mentioned it and he got it all moving, so that was November I think.. Appointment and told on 16th March, I'm ASD Level 1... so here I am!!! Moving forward, slowly.. but Im happy....

    Sorry for digressing!!!!!

  • Maybe with the NHS it's slightly different but I can't imagine that they would do anything like that.

How long did you have to wait for your assessment with the NHS? Just out of interest

  • Ah ok! my GP gave the referal at my request NHS

  • Maybe I'm not sure though because I got a private diagnosis and I don't remember my assessor saying anything to me about a follow up chat or anything
