Hi there. For those of you who have been officially diagnosed, how long did you spend in the "self discovery / research phase" before approaching your doctor?
About 10 minutes. 
I had no idea I was different to other people until we had a friend over for lunch and his teacher-wife mentioned I seemed to have all the markers for Asperger's - so my wife rang the doctors and my gp immediately agreed. Yeah, that obvious - it seems everyone knew but me.
My wife checked with the company health insurance and a diagnosis was covered.
About 10 days later I was diagnosed.
