This Forum

I'm confused. I'm very new to internet forums, so forgive my ignorance. But some of the posts have hundreds and thousands of views when there are only about twenty or so members who comment on most of them. Are there really so many people viewing these threads?

  • you shouldn't be worried ,,,, they just have extreme inability / lack of confidence in writing in a forum.  I Iove it when one  suddenly makes contact -- in this forum ,, one lady who would only play the word games. One  started she writing small messages to one side of the word game ---- we kept it going for months and she told me all about herself in short sentences in the word game.  A beautiful experience for both of us.

  • Thank you, Aidie. I find the silent watchers a little disturbing, but I suppose that's part of the forum thing.

  • yes there are that many viewers. There are scores that read and do not interact. they are the silent.  The count will also include the staff in NAS.

This is common in another forum where i am a trained listener . They contact me then dont speak--- some dont communicate for years then maybe communicate in single words or yes/no codes.

  • Thank you. I don't understand how the ratio works. But by any standard, it's a pretty low number of regular posters and an inflated number of views.  I thought it strange that it was always the same people replying to my posts and commenting on others. I thought I was doing something wrong in terms of posting in the wrong topic areas, or no one could see my posts.

  • It works out approximately 10:1 ratio of views to posts because every time someone goes to answer, it seems to count as another view - so you're right, there's only 20-ish regular posters - this is not a very busy site.

I also find that by the time there's about 50 replies, the threads are so messed up with the strange nesting format that they're too difficult to navigate - and they fall to oblivion..
