  • I like practicing Tai Chi, it's one of the healthiest activities to do that increases relaxation and mindfulness.

Interestingly, when we look at specific studies for specific diseases, we see that Tai Chi consistently emerges as superior or as good as all other forms of non-pharmaceutical treatments. And because Tai Chi has no side effects, it may be appropriate as an important complement—or, in some cases, a replacement—for drug therapy.

This scientific evidence also shows that Tai Chi is one of the most effective intervention for health and wellness and complements standard medical treatment for the prevention and rehabilitation of many conditions commonly associated with age. The main benefits of Tai Chi its energizing, calming, grounding, centering and enjoyable aspects. Findings further pointed to additional benefits incurred in the learning process of Tai Chi movements, such as patience, acceptance of things as they are, and an increase in physical, mental, and spiritual awareness.

  • I've heard once or twice that tai chi is good for you am I right in saying its like meditation through a form of exercise, that's kind of the way I think of it

  • It's just like a moving version of meditation, staying anchored and focused on the breathing while do the moves. It's rarely taught as a martial art in our time.

  • In a nutshell yes it is ( its a meditation by Doing, yes its a marital art,,, technically a fighting martial art  )

     en.wikipedia.org/.../Tai_chi

It is part of Moving meditation   ( or meditation by doing in Zen ). I already do ( meditation and meditation by Doing but I have been considering taking up Tai Chi up again because it would compliment what I am doing already and I still know one or two  moves Slight smile

    It is really worth doing.

Learn from Videos in YouTube, if there isnt a club, because its hard to get the movements right from books.

My neighbour does the "stick/staff" versions at night in his garden.

I found it really useful for cultivating silent smooth movement for close photography of wild animals

it lead to me training in Karate and Judo (sparring with black belts everyday) and now proper real meditation ( Zen ), living mindfulness ( Vietnamese ) ,  and walking meditation ( Zen ).
