Autistic Adult or Adult with Autism? Why?

"person with autism" is the latest recommendation from the qualified psychologists. 

which is fine. they are entitled to their opinion ... but I think an autistic persons opinion carries more weight. Autistic people are the only people who have to deal with autism 24/7. Even parents of autistic kids get to ignore autism while they are sleeping.

I'm not sure any of us really get to pick how others label us. You can shame and deplatform and cancel however much you like but people will still label you the way they want in their heads and say it under their breath. But there is some value in putting a label on like a costume to make a point just like an actor dons a costume to illustrate a narrative on a stage. In this sense the labels we attach to ourselves can be important.

But for most purposes what ever is clearest and quickest is best.
