Hello
Just wondered whether anybody has experience with this.
Enquired informally 3 years ago on behalf of my 11 year old who has ASD with somebody at the Council who I knew on one of the teams at the time and her answer was basically I don’t think he’s bad enough to qualify. Obviously she didn’t phrase it like that but that’s what she meant!
My son is in designated provision within a mainstream school & is getting low rate mob/middle rate care DLA.
Main reason I am revisiting this is he has just been accused of theft from the local youth club whilst wandering into an out of bounds area. He’s a bit of a loose cannon, but whilst there was no hard proof I have defended him vociferously. He was seen by a trusted child apparently, but nothing found on his person. He denied things to the point of coming out in hives & as we know those with ASD don’t make great liars. So, if he’s to continue there (that’s in doubt due to the way they have handled things) I think he would obviously benefit from an independent wingman/personal assistant, so wondered whether other parents of ASD have qualified?
