Hi Im new

Hi

Sorry I posted about self harming before really introducing myself.  I have a 17 year old daughter with Aspergers.  We have ongoing problems and things are a real worry with her at the moment.  She has had a real tough time over the past few years, from suffering from anorexia, being bullied on transport from college when she went to the point where we had to get the police involved.  She has no such real friends as she says she doesnt trust anyone.  She is seeing a lad who also has Aspergers and dyspraxia but he doesnt live local so we have to go and pick him up and take him home when he comes over to stay for weekends.  My daughter is obsessed with this lad though and she thinks that they can move in and live together whereas we are saying things are going to fast.  She gets so distressed over things and worries constantly that she is not good enough for him.  She is under camhs at the moment and is on medication for depression and anxiety.  They are talking of moving her to the adult side of the learning disability team when she is 18 this year but they are not sure if she meets their criteria.  She doesnt go anywhere apart from to her voluntary work without me.  I do worry about how she is going to cope especially in the future.

So sorry about all you are going through.  It is so hard, we try to support our loved ones as best we can but it is hard.  Welcome to the NAS.  They have helped me to cope with my son by just being there.  It is good to know we have a big support network through this forum and through the NAS helpline so we are not alone.  Give the helpline a call, they may have advise or just a listening ear.  Hope all works out. xx
