i have mild learning difficulties i'm not sure if they relate to autism

i'm not officially diagnosed with autism but lots of my behaviour seems to fit into autistic categories. i am a 17 year old girl with learning issues and i was told at a early age that it was something to do with dyspraxia but no body really seems to know what my problems are.

  • Hey there, I'm formally diagnosed 22 year old but had a late diagnosis a month ago, I had a lot of trouble in school academically I struggled a lot with HOW things were taught which now looking back I realise. Not to seem arrogant but I am actually very clever I know a lot of about a lot of thing but you wouldn't know that looking at my graded you'd think quite the opposite. My knowledge base has to do with my 'special interests' which is a result of my autism which is a common autistic trait if you didn't already know.

I'm terrible at maths I can only do very simple addition and subtraction in my head anything even slightly more complex than that I NEED a calculator but I love astronomy and astrophysics and I can deeply understand the concepts of things like black holes and different types of black holes for example etc etc I can talk all day if I had the opportunity but the I don't grasp the mathematical aspects of such things well at all.

I did a lot of research into what I though was "wrong with me" before coming the to conclusion I'm Autistic (I don't think there is anything wrong with me now). I would encourage you to do the same, if you think you're Autistic don't just leave it there do research when you can in your free time there's LOTS of information on the internet, YouTube videos articles online, even tik tok has a few creators on there that talk about autism and explaining their own perspectives and more.

  • Hi ! I am going through an assessment (on the waiting list for a diagnosis) and am 23. It has been a whole journey since I started to wonder about having ASD a year ago. Are you thinking to ask for a diagnosis ?
