Vivid Dreams

Does everyone else here have really vivid dreams? I'm in my 40s. They haven't ceased. They're intricate and colourful and sometimes creepy and like an entire movie. There's always so many people! How is this possible?? How do I see all these intricacies and faces and these elaborate structures or interiors. Sometimes I wish I could convey them when I wake up because they're so vivid but... just out of reach. I used to log them years ago.

Do all autists think in pictures? Is this a particular marker of ASD or are these things which all Children experience which seem to fade with age.

  • Hey! How wonderful this is the first post I have replied to, and it's something that is commonplace with me too!

I have had vivid dreams since childhood!

I swear I could describe the streets, the people, the setting, the city to someone and they could pinpoint where the dream is plus draw a pretty good picture. Some dreams are reoccurring some are new.

  • I have had similar experiences.

Vivid dreams that are an exaggeration of my childhood memories.

Some of these dreams are recurring over many years, with slight differences or a continuation of a previous dream.

One is of being in a city centre on a Saturday around 5pm with rain and local newspaper having the up to date football results, the green paper.  This goes back to my experiences of the 1960s and 70s.

Another is my local travelling and/walking through my local area, but it's ten times as big with many more streets and shops and it all takes so much longer.

Another is about a local shopping area some distance away. This is much more up market from where I live.  But in my dreams it's much bigger and better than the reality.  It seems to be a fictional place that I want to visit.  But it doesn't exist.

    Etc.
