Descending into Madness

Today, I bought a new car. And I also modified the alias on my primary email address; the alias I used will be out obsolete in June 2022. Of course, there were shouting sessions along the way. Also, sensory overloads causing me to go mad.

I spent tonight drinking coffee and listening to Interstellar Overdrive - Syd Barrett's Acid-Fueled masterpiece. Tomorrow I have to register my car for tax purposes. Coalisland Post Office will do it; I am heading to a woman outside that town to get my PIP form professionally filled.

The new car is a 2015 Vauxhall Insignia. A saloon; driving it will be a culture shock since I'm so used to Hatchbacks. I like driving wee roads to avoid traffic. I don't want to be an A-Hole with a wide car flying on tiny roads.

Life. It's amazing.

  • good for you - onwards and upwards!  Smiley

My Astra is 19 years old - unfortunately, it's the best all-round car I ever owned so I'll be upset to lose it when it finally breaks..

  • Taxed my car, at Magherafelt Post Office, this morning. The bad news was that the staff were busy stock-taking. But the good news was that there was no queue. Had I taxed the car in Coalisland, as the dealer suggested, I could have been waiting quite a while.

I'm beginning to get used to the modern handbrakes. They're a nuisance. But so far, so good.

Good to have the beepers. My manoeuvring is pathetic. The three-point-turn was my first major let down in driving lessons. I had to practice at the disused farmyard.

Plus, the car is saloon-sized; but officially a hatchback. My roads are small. I'll be going slower in this one.
