I started to toilet train my child in September 2020 we started of with the potty and not wearing trousers at all, from there he gradually went to the toilet, with my help he pees and openes his bowels however there's time we're he dont tell me he needs the toilet and its like he forgets i do take him to the toilet all the time sometimes his distress and will not do anything and when he has returned to the living room and relaxed his had an accident its coming to a point where his having accidents atleast 4 times a day. Its like the very first day of potty training I really don't know what to do  if someone can help me I would really appreciate it thankyou!

  • i had similar issues when i was a child. i'd suggest investigating sensory processing disorder, specifically the area concerning how the internal workings of the body are managed by the CNS. - it's called interoception, which is how the mind and body manage what's going on inside the body, including toileting, posture, muscle control, coordination, pain, temperature sensing, etc. they've only been studying this for the past 10 years..

so, maybe he just is poor at being able to tell when he needs to go ---- until it is too late. he may have other sensing issues, such as to light, sound, etc.  but internal body mechanisms are often subtle and just unpredictable. wish they'd known this when i was little. my life woulda been different - for the better.

    best of luck...

  • Definitely has sensory issues he dislikes wearing socks, shoes hates wet hands someone touching him with wet hands, but I feel like he's lost control of his bladder and I have got the gp involved..

Yes I totally I agree with you the struggle is real when not knowing whats going on

Thankyou for your advice I really appreciate it x
